Coping with Pain

COPING WITH PAIN

Pain is your body’s way of telling you something is not right. Pain can be caused by an injury, an illness, or an emotional distress. You many feel stinging, burning, stabbing, or stiffness sensation in various areas of your body. When the pain becomes chronic (lasts a long time), when doctors cannot find its origin, or when there is no cure for the pain, many people become frustrated, depressed, hopeless and may have difficulty functioning in their daily activities or sleep at night. Psychotherapy can help. Our therapists are trained to support clients in coping with their pain, think differently about it, change their lifestyle, and learn to relax their body and mind. We use various modalities, such as Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness, and Emotion-Focused Therapy. We work collaterally with other health care professionals to address both your physical and emotional needs.
