Depression

DEPRESSION

Feeling sad and/or unhappy is sometimes a normal part of life. Depression is more than sadness. It is characterized by prolonged low mood, as well as feelings of worthlessness, hopelessness, and guilt. Depression is a common experience which can impact children, adolescents, and adults. Circumstances such as the weather or the birth of a child can signal specific forms of depression (example: Seasonal Affective Disorder, Postpartum Depression). Depression is an illness that can be treated. Our therapists are trained in various modalities (example:  Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Emotion-Focused Therapy) which have been found to be effective in reducing clients’ depressive symptoms and supporting them to live more fulfilling lives.
