Ira Gandasaputra is a Registered Psychotherapist and a Registered Marriage and Family Therapist. She received her Ph.D. in Marriage and Family Therapy from St. Mary’s University, Texas. Ira has worked with clients in different settings, including private practice, counselling centres, schools, and children’s mental health agencies. She is trained in a variety of evidence-based and systemic approaches, specifically Emotion-Focused Individual, Trauma, EFT for parenting and Couples Therapy (EFT), Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Multisystemic Therapy (MST), and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT). 


Ira works with youth (12-17), parents, individuals, couples, and families. She works with couples who are dealing with relationship and communication issues, emotional injuries, and those who want to strengthen their connection with each other.  In addition, she works with trauma, perfectionism, self-criticism, low self-esteem, depression, anxiety, anger issues, grief, relationship issues, life satisfaction, and life transitions. Ira also has experience working with LGBTQ individuals and couples who are experiencing challenges in their relationships. She also has a special interest in working with parents and caregivers, helping find ways to transform their parenting challenges.


Ira works collaboratively with her clients to identify goals for therapy that reflect their values and needs. She is passionate about helping others in meaningful ways and practices from a strength-based, person-centered, emotion-focused perspective, offering a safe and supportive environment.


Ira is a member of the College of Registered Psychotherapist of Ontario (CRPO), the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT), the Ontario and Canadian Associations for Marriage and Family Therapy. She is candidate for AAMFT Approved Supervisor and has served as a supervisor for therapists seeking registration with CRPO.
