NADIA MEHDIZADEH JAFARI, M.A., R.P. (QUALIFYING)
(SUPERVISED PRACTICE)
(She/Her)
Nadia completed her Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology at Western University. She did her internship at Western University’s Health and Wellness Services, where she provided individual therapy to clients from diverse backgrounds presenting with a wide range of concerns.
She works with adults experiencing anxiety, depression and low mood, grief and loss, self-esteem and self-criticism, motivation and perfectionism, familial and cultural pressures, adjustment to life transitions, relationship difficulties, academic and career-related stress. She also has experience supporting individuals navigating stress related to immigration, cross-cultural adjustment, belonging, and concerns related to identity, sexuality, and the LGBTQ+ community.
Nadia’s approach is integrative, client-centred, and strength-based, drawing on evidence-based modalities including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT). She grounds her work in trauma-informed and anti-oppressive frameworks, with a commitment to culturally responsive care that honours the unique lived experiences of each client.
Nadia aims to create a non-judgmental, collaborative space where clients feel heard, understood, and empowered. Meaningful therapeutic work develops within a relationship that is genuine, trusting, and authentic. Her approach is tailored to each client’s strengths, concerns, and goals, supporting them as they move toward growth, resilience, and meaningful change.
In addition to her clinical work, Nadia has research experience exploring ambivalence and resistance in clients through a motivational interviewing framework and examining narrative and emotional processes in the treatment of borderline personality disorder. Her research interests also include qualitative studies on life challenges, resilience, and the settlement experiences of immigrants and newcomers.
