Pamela Percy

DR. PAMELA E. PERCY, PH.D., C.PSYCH.

(She/Her)

Dr. Pamela Percy is a registered clinical psychologist who, over the last 12 years, has lived and worked in Winnipeg, Sacramento and Toronto, where she has had the opportunity to work with individuals and couples dealing with a wide variety of issues.

Practicing as an integrative psychologist, Dr. Percy incorporates understandings of human emotional, psychological, social, and biological development with findings from current research in neuroscience, post-traumatic growth, and attachment. She utilizes evidence-based treatment approaches to help people address their concerns and develop their authentic, unique selves.

The clients she sees in individual therapy may be experiencing depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, grief and loss. Some struggle with addictions and painful emotions such as guilt, shame, anger and a sense of hopelessness. Others are trying to find a sense of purpose and seek help to answer existential questions such as: “Why am I here? How do I find meaning in my life?”

Dr. Percy helps couples understand and resolve problems such as betrayals and emotional injuries that may have adversely affected their mutual trust, empathy and connection. She helps couples create connection and restore intimacy by helping them transform negative communication into expressing important feelings and needs in a healthy way.

Dr. Percy is also experienced in the assessment and treatment of individuals suffering the effects of psychological trauma that may be debilitating. Some may be shouldering the burden of having suffered traumatic experiences such as childhood neglect, and emotional, physical and/or sexual abuse. Such events can have serious long-term effects, and may result in Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Complex PTSD and Dissociative Disorders.

Dr. Percy conceptualizes therapy as a process, a journey if you will, that she takes in collaboration with her clients. The therapeutic relationship is confidential and grounded in safety, respect, compassion, empathy, education and experience. She helps people to understand themselves, their emotions, and how they relate to their world, so they’re better able to live life in an empowered, fulfilling and hopeful fashion. Dr. Percy seeks to be as genuine and as present as possible so that the therapy journey is authentic and restorative. She is comfortable working with a broad cross-section of humanity including individuals from different cultural, ethnic and racial groups, of varying spiritual and religious beliefs, as well as those of different genders, sexual orientation and types of relationship.

Prior to becoming a clinical psychologist, Dr. Percy worked in the arts as a dancer, teacher, actor, director and writer. These creative pursuits contribute positively to her collaborative and creative approach to providing psychotherapy. Currently she is writing a book about grief based on her extensive research and findings.

Dr. Percy is a member of the College of Psychologists of Ontario, the Ontario Psychological Association, the International Society for Emotion-Focused Therapy, the International Society for the Study of Trauma and Dissociation, and the Society for the Exploration of Psychotherapy Integration.
