Reva Katz-Ulster

REVA KATZ-ULSTER, M.S.W, R.S.W

(She/Her)

Reva Katz-Ulster has been working as a registered Social Worker since 1999.  She received a BA in Psychology from the University of Toronto, a Bachelor of Social Work from McGill, and an MSW in Social Work from the University of Toronto.

Reva has a multi-dimensional background with decades of experience in her field. She’s received extensive training in Family Systems therapy at the George Hull Centre for Children and Families, and worked in the community mental health clinic at Sunnybrook Hospital.  Most recently she has been with NowWhat? Support Services in Hamilton, working with parents and individuals, as well as seeing individuals and couples in private practice in Toronto.  She has experience with a variety of issues from mental health to ADHD and autism, as well as emotional trauma - including working with survivors of childhood sexual abuse.

Reva employs an integrative approach that combines her background in Family Systems with her training in Emotion-Focused Therapy, and draws from several other evidence-based modalities. She’s seen the dramatic benefits her clients have experienced from EFT, which led her to want to make this her primary practice.  Along with her therapeutic lens, as a social worker she is mindful of the other issues and stressors that her clients face in their lives such as caring for extended family or employment issues, or diversity issues; she will assist in locating supports where needed.

Reva strives to create a non-judgemental environment where clients can feel safe to express themselves.  She believes that her role as a therapist is a collaborative one where she uses her skills and expertise to help guide clients along their chosen path.  With respect to couples therapy, to help couples break the negative cycles they can get stuck in and to help them resolve emotional injuries, Reva believes that some of the greatest gains come through facilitating: communication, de-escalating negative cycles, empathy, healing and reconnection. As well, she works with individuals who are struggling with anxiety, low self-esteem, depression and grief.

She is a Regulated Health Professional and a member in good standing of the Ontario Association of Professional Social Workers and the Ontario College of Registered Social Workers and Social Service Workers.
