Nicole Knon

NICOLE KNON, M.A., C.PSYCH.

(She/Her)

Nicole Knon is a registered Clinical Psychologist with a Master’s in Clinical Psychology from the University of Witwatersrand in South Africa in 2011. Nicole has had over a decade of experience in hospital, private practice and community settings working with individuals from various cultures and backgrounds.

Nicole currently works with adults and adolescents to: improve their relationships with themselves and others, manage general life transitions; improve and support struggles around confidence, self-esteem, anxiety, depression, and perfectionism. In addition to this, she supports individuals with issues related to: self-growth, stress, life-work balance, parenting, assertiveness struggles, relationship struggles, emotion dysregulation, prenatal and postpartum transitions, grief, and trauma.

Nicole works from an emotion-focused, client-centred, humanistic framework and strives to create a safe, compassionate, and non-judgemental space for people who are searching for help during vulnerable moments in their lives. Understanding the roots and not just the symptoms with which individuals struggle, can foster deep, meaningful, lasting, and fulfilling changes. Consequently, Nicole finds value in balancing the need for tools and skills with insight and awareness, into the patterns and dynamics that tend to play out in people’s lives. She has a special interest in attachment theory, as well as evidence-based frameworks like Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT), Emotionally focused therapy, Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and other mindfulness-based approaches. The culmination of these models allows her to draw on and cultivate an individualized and collaborative treatment approach.

Nicole feels privileged to walk alongside her clients in their journeys and strives to create a safe space and provide an unconditionally accepting environment

Nicole is a member of the College of Psychologists of Ontario,  the Ontario Psychological Association, and The Newfoundland and Labrador Psychology board. She is passionate about continuing to grow in her clinical skills and staying up to date with the latest evidence-based research.
