IDA RADAN, M.ED., R.P.

(She/Her)

Ida Radan is a Registered Psychotherapist with over a decade of experience working with clients of diverse backgrounds in a variety of settings such as hospitals (inpatient and outpatient programs), university counselling centres, interdisciplinary rehabilitation clinics, and private practice. Her educational background includes an Honours B.Sc. in Psychology and Master’s degree in Counselling Psychology from the University of Toronto. During her position with Altum Health, she was the primary therapist for Integrated Pain Rehabilitation Program and Outpatient Mental Health Program. In this role, she provided therapy to adult clients in an individual therapy setting, utilizing a client-centered approach and ensuring well-coordinated care for her clients by chairing weekly rounds to discuss clients’ presenting concerns with the team and monitoring progress. She also facilitated group psychoeducation classes on a variety of topics, and taught a 6-week mindfulness meditation training program.

Ida values a collaborative approach to working with her clients. She aims to create an atmosphere of safety and hope during consultations by bringing kindness to the therapy space, and a desire for developing an authentic connection. Her theoretical orientation integrates cognitive-behavioural, experiential, and attachment-psychodynamic theories. She employs best practice clinical guidelines and the following evidence-based approaches: Emotion-Focused Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Mindfulness, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. She tailors the therapy to suit her clients’ specific needs and values. In addition, Ida helps her clients to: explore and resolve their concerns and issues, enhance awareness of themselves and their relationship patterns, recognize their strengths, and create possibilities for understanding and meaningful change.

Ida works with clients with a variety of presenting concerns and issues: including depression, stress, relationship issues, lack of assertiveness and boundary difficulties, anger issues, low confidence and self-esteem, insomnia, trauma, grief and loss, adjustment to illness and injury, life changes, anxiety and chronic worry, panic attacks, social anxiety, stress management, workplace difficulties, and discrimination. Another area of focus for Ida is helping reduce the suffering of individuals who are living with chronic muscular-skeletal pain. She works to equip these clients with information and skills to help them control their own experiences, pain and symptoms. In addition, she helps those living with chronic health difficulties become more active and functional and live the best life they can.

Ida is involved in ongoing professional training and consultation on a regular basis in order to remain current.
