Dr. Hong provides evidence-based assessment and treatment services for adults experiencing a wide range of concerns including depression, anxiety (i.e., social anxiety, generalized anxiety, phobias, and panic attacks), trauma (i.e., post-traumatic stress disorder, complex trauma, and adjustment disorder), obsessions and compulsions, perfectionism, life stress, grief, low self-esteem, relationship issues, and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). Dr. Hong’s approach is client-centred, culturally sensitive, and integrative; she draws from Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to meet each client’s unique needs and goals. Her doctoral dissertation examined the therapeutic benefits of using concrete, imagistic, specific, and clear language by both clients and therapists in CBT and EFT for depression.

Dr. Hong has completed clinical training in a variety of settings including inpatient and outpatient hospital programs, university counselling centres, and private practices. Her wealth of experience includes completing her pre-doctoral clinical psychology residency at the Centre for Addictions and Mental Health (CAMH); her major rotations were in the Mood and Anxiety Ambulatory Services and in the University of Toronto’s Health and Wellness Center, and her minor rotation was in the Women’s Trauma Program. She has also completed placements at the Brampton Civic Hospital‘s Adult Day Treatment Program for Mood and Anxiety Disorders, North York General Hospital’s Assessment and Wellness Clinic, CAMH’s Work, Stress, and Health Program (formerly known as Occupational Stress and Trauma Recovery Clinic), and University of Toronto’s Psychology Training Clinic, where she also supervised Master’s level clinicians.
