Dr. Levitan is a Clinical and Counselling Psychologist (Supervised Practice) registered with the College of Psychologists and Behaviour Analysts of Ontario. She holds a PhD in Clinical Psychology from McGill University.
Dr. Levitan provides therapy to individuals and couples experiencing a wide range of concerns, including:
- Anxiety (e.g., generalized, social, health, panic, agoraphobia, phobias)
- Mood and depression
- Self-esteem, confidence, perfectionism
- Relationship difficulties (e.g., communication, conflict, intimacy, betrayal)
- Grief and loss
- Abuse, complex trauma, posttraumatic stress
- Sexuality- and gender-related difficulties (e.g., identity, coming out, minority stress)
- Sexual difficulties (e.g., desire, functioning, paraphilic interests)
- School or workplace stress and burnout
- Life transitions (e.g., separation/divorce, moving, job loss)
Dr. Levitan’s therapeutic style is warm, transparent, and nonjudgmental. She prioritizes fostering an honest, collaborative environment where clients feel respected and deeply understood. She is passionate about helping clients expand their understanding of themselves and their relationships—both past and present—and actively address habitual patterns of thinking, behaving, and feeling that interfere with their goals.
Dr. Levitan tailors her therapeutic approach to each client’s strengths and goals. She draws from several evidence-based modalities, including cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), emotion focused therapy (EFT), dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT), and mentalization-based therapy (MBT). She aims to empower clients with a combination of valuable insights and practical strategies for meaningful, lasting change.
Dr. Levitan has extensive experience providing therapy to adults of diverse ages and backgrounds. Before joining the Centre for Psychology and Emotional Health, she completed clinical training across a variety of Montreal-based hospitals and clinics, including the Jewish General Hospital, Allan Memorial Institute (Mood and Anxiety Disorders Program; Sex and Couple Therapy Service), McGill University’s counselling centre, and private practice.
